Cozy Fall Patio Reveal - One Room Challenge Fall 2020-12

Our cozy patio makeover is finally complete! This was definitely a low-key makeover (with no major demo and minimal DIY’s), but sometimes simple is all you need!

Cozy Patio Makeover

My approach for our backyard patio makeover was to focus on how we practically use the space and design everything around that. This space didn’t start out bad by any means, it just didn’t feel quite complete. (Click here to view the BEFORE) I wanted it to feel cozy, but I didn’t want to add maintenance or things that weren’t practical for us.

One of my favorite transformations from our patio was refinishing the wood-burning stove. I’m amazed at what we accomplished with a little scrubbing and spray paint! I’ll have a tutorial coming soon on how we did that. We also added a larger firewood holder/tool set so we are ready for lots of fires in our new wood stove!

In lieu of a coffee table, I used stumps that I had collected in our shop. I didn’t do anything other than knock the cobwebs off! They work great as a coffee table, but we could also use them as side tables or stools if we want.

Our patio desperately needed additional seating. I found this couch from Walmart in the spring for under $200! I like a mixture of styles and this outdoor couch added the perfect touch of modern to our patio.

We also bought these outdoor chairs for our firepit. They’re so comfortable, I’m thinking I need to order a couple more for the patio!

Lanterns are such an easy way to add ambiance to an outdoor space. Rather than buy a lantern, I decided to make my own DIY lantern using some scrap wood and a strip of leather. This was a super simple DIY and I love how it came out!

The final touches included a few candles, pillows, and touches of greenery.
